If you have been following my recent cartooning journal posts, you know that I have been practicing my cartoon inking drawings in the Walt Kelly style. Here is a line up of six of the very popular characters. I started trying using black acrylic ink from Daler Rowney in case you are interested. Drawn on smooth Strathmore Bristol paper.

Just for the fun of it, I decided to post a picture of the 1969 Pogo toys that were a premium with BIZ laundry additive. I remember buying six packages of BIZ to get each of the characters. They have been hanging around my drawing studio ever since.

This is a picture of the package with Beauregard Bugleboy Hound attached to the side.

They are each about 4 to 5 ” tall. They really missed a great marketing opportunity. Pogo was hugely popular in 1969. They could have sold tons of BIZ laundry packages with dozens of other Pogo characters as well.  People would have been very happy and had lots of clean clothes too.
